20 Motivational Field Hockey Quotes

We all like to be inspired and sometimes motivational field hockey quotes can be just the thing we need, so I have put together a list of my favourite quotes which have helped me and also some which I know have inspired others.

Motivational quotes are like baths… it’s only a short term solution so you need to be inspire yourself everyday.

#1 – You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take

This is my personal favourite which I have used most as a striker, it comes from one of the best ice hockey players ever, Wayne Gretzy. It basically means that if you are worried about not scoring, it is better to take the shot and miss because you won’t score if you don’t take the shot anyway.

#2 – It’s not about how good you are but how bad you want it

Stop thinking that you don’t have enough talent and start working on improving until you are good enough. Be prepared to work smarter than others and you will go places.

Quotes.021

#3 – You only see obstacles when you take your eyes off the goal”

You have to be focussed on what’s most important in order to achieve your goal and not allow yourself to be distracted by why you can’t achieve it but rather focus on why YOU CAN!

Quotes.024

#4 – A good player plays where the ball is. A great player plays where the ball is going to be.

The ability to anticipate what is going to happen next can mean being in the right place at the right time and giving you the 2 yards of space that you sometimes need.

Quotes.026

#5 – Let your mistakes make you better, not bitter…

Too many people look to blame others when they make mistakes. Rather take responsibility for your mistakes and use them as a way to learn and grow as a player.

#8 – It’s not how BIG you are, it’s how big you PLAY!

Too often people blame their size (or lack of) for not being good enough or when they aren’t selected. Instead you should use your size to your advantage, smaller players tend to be more agile and bigger players are normally stronger or have greater reach.
